James E. Castillo

Past Chairman

James E. Castillo is a graduate of San Francisco State University with a B.A. degree in Economics. Jim also has an MBA is Technology Management from the University of Phoenix and has earned a Certificate in Business Computing from the University of Nebraska.

Throughout his 35-year career, James held managerial positions in Human Resources, Compliance, Health and Safety, Operations, Business Development, Quality, Labor Relations, Employee Relations, and Airport Operations. While serving in this capacity at UPS in Los Angeles, James was responsible for 25 operating facilities, three airport operations (LAX, Burbank, and Honolulu), a workforce of 5,000 employees and a P&L in excess of $900M. As Vice President of District operations, he was directly accountable for staffing and strategy implementation of Business Development, Budgeting, Marketing, Employee Relations, Customer Satisfaction, and Cost Containment.

James is the former Senior Vice President of Operations for the Los Angeles Urban League. Under his supervision, the Los Angeles Urban League served over 100,000 clients annually, with 31 Head Start sites, three One Stop Centers, and three multiple purpose literacy and training sites. In addition to the day-to-day, he supported four Urban League Board Steering Committees and served as Interim President and CEO during the agency’s leadership transition period. James Castillo is a native of San Francisco, California. He and his wife are the proud parents of one son and two grandchildren.
