Gary W. Mays is a former Internal Auditor Manager of Corporate Finance and Accounting at United Parcel Service (UPS).
Gary started his UPS career as a delivery driver in Nashville, TN, shortly after graduating from Tennessee State University. Gary was promoted to Hub Supervisor before beginning his accounting career in the district accounting functions group. His involvement with special assignments led to a corporate relocation to Atlanta, GA, to work with the Corporate Internal Audit Group.
As a corporate auditor, Gary was responsible for auditing districts with 9 essential business processes. He led auditing corporate accounting functions including Finance Reports and Planning, General Ledger, Tax, Accounting, Procurement, Investor Relations, and Treasury.
A Diversity and Inclusion Leader, Gary chaired the African American Business Resource Group – UPS Committee. He led the development of workshops and opportunities to enhance employee professional and personal development.
Beyond MARCH Foundation, Gary is involved with the following community organizations: former Board Member, Butler Street YMCA, Atlanta GA; Board Member and Treasurer, Create Your Dreams, Atlanta, GA; Board Member, Why We Can’t Wait, Nashville, TN; and Member, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Gary earned a Master of Accounting and Finance Management and a Master Certificate of Financial Analysis from Keller Graduate School of Management
Gary and his wife, Felecia, have been married more than 29 years. They have 2 children, Jóna and Jonathan.
